Like many other services at this time, clutter clearing consultations have moved online. Our certified practitioners now offer highly effective clutter clearing sessions to clients located all over the world.
Widespread ownership of smartphones and tablets has made it possible to make this transition, together with the easy availability of free video conferencing software such as Skype, Zoom, Whereby, WhatsApp, and so on.
Richard and I are ahead of the curve in this respect because we’ve been conducting online clutter clearing consultations with great results for years. It began when we moved from Bali to the UK in 2010. Since then we’ve worked online with people from many countries around the world and have developed highly effective techniques for this.
In recent years, some of the certified practitioners we’ve trained have been conducting online consultations too, and over the past few months we’ve brought them all up-to-speed with the techniques. Located in the UK, the US, Europe and Australia, they all offer online clutter clearing sessions now.
What’s different about an online clutter clearing session
In a hands-on consultation, a practitioner will come to your home and work side by side with you to help you clear your clutter.
In an online session, the practitioner is still right there with you, but at a distance. Your phone or tablet becomes the video portal through which they can see the clutter you need help with and guide you through the clearing process, step by step. If you get stuck on something, instead of giving up, the practitioner can help you to work through it and keep going.
Some people even tell us they prefer working this way because they can book shorter sessions if they want to instead of the usual 3-hour or 6-hour sessions that are more practical for hands-on consultations because of the travel time involved. A shorter session can be helpful if there is just one type of clutter or one particular area of your home you feel stuck on.
What happens in an online session
Before an online session, there are some preparations you’ll need to make. Check that your phone or tablet is fully charged and keep the mains charger handy in case it’s needed. You’ll also need to gather some materials, such as boxes for the sorting method I describe in my book — a rubbish box, recycling box, charity donations box, and so on. Depending on the type of clutter you have, specific details will be sent to you in advance of each session to help you to get the most from it.
One of the main reasons people seek professional clutter clearing help is because they feel overwhelmed or don’t know where to start. Working with a trained practitioner makes the whole process so much easier.
If you do a series of sessions with Richard or any of the certified practitioners we have trained, we will also do our best to help you to understand why you felt the need to accumulate clutter in the first place. This is crucially important and something other professionals in this field often miss completely. The fact is, unless you discover the underlying reasons, the chances are very high that clutter will all just build up again. This is an essential part of learning to live clutter-free.
Professional clutter clearing help
I’m busy writing a new book so am not available to do any online clutter clearing sessions myself at the moment. But you can book sessions with Richard or any of our certified practitioners by clicking on the links below:
All practitioners have excellent English and some speak other languages too, including German, Dutch, French and Czech.
